AAA Canada Launches Innovative Training Initiatives with New Learning Management System
AAA Canada was founded as a subsidiary of AAA Europe in 2009, specializing in providing technical engineering services for the aerospace industry. As it grew over the past 15 years, AAA Canada (AAA) expanded its operations, establishing a strong presence and reputation providing professional technical services and support to the assembly requirements of the aerospace and transportation industries.
AAA experienced a severe disruption to its existing business model as a result of the onset of the global Covid pandemic, as requirements for workplace safety led to an almost immediate halt to contracts at virtually all of our major clients. As of mid-2023, the constant disruptions related to the pandemic have ceased and AAA Canada has returned to a healthy market presence while seeking to adapt to new conditions and opportunities.
Adapting Through Diversification and Continuous Learning
In response to the new conditions and opportunities, the company has embarked upon an ambitious diversification strategy. It has expanded its capabilities beyond aerospace, entering the ground transportation and health sectors. This strategic decision has helped us tap into a wider range of opportunities, attracting new clients and establishing long-term partnerships. It is also part of the company's response to the re-establishment of its market presence post-pandemic.
As our primary markets and clients are changing due to the electrification of transportation, new materials, new designs and new ways of working, we have already begun diversifying and expanding in several ways. To provide consistently high-quality services as a key supplier to major clients, the company's AAA Academy, founded in 2016 to assure the consistent supply of high-quality certified professionals to those clients, has begun to implement a diversify-and-expand strategy. While the Academy's training and certification offerings are established and operating effectively, our decision to implement a new Learning Management System (LMS) will allow us to seek new clients for our expertise and efficiency in designing and delivering industry-leading training and certification programs.
A Strategic Approach to Employee Training
The AAA Academy's training services have been developed under the AS9100 framework and thus unable AAA employees to remain up-to-date with the technical skills required by its clientele. It is essential to the company's business model to remain a leader in providing the most effective skills and expertise possible, which allows its clients to optimize operational processes and improve production efficiency.
In response to today's ever-evolving work landscape, the company is introducing a state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS) aimed at making employee training and development both more effective and more efficient. This initiative underscores the organization's commitment to building a culture of continuous learning while ensuring compliance with industry workplace safety standards. By organizing our content and streamlining our training processes, we aim to improve employer-employee relations and overall training efficiency. The LMS will serve as a centralized hub for organizing and managing training programs and will offer predefined courses and assessments tailored to the needs of employees at every level.
Compliance and certification are crucial elements in this initiative. The LMS is designed to ensure that employees are well-versed in industry regulations and standards, facilitating a smoother path to achieving necessary certifications. it is also integrated with workplace health and safety management. As safety remains a top priority, the system will provide detailed training modules in health protocols, enabling employees to understand and adhere to safety standards.
As a promising new service, AAA is already "in the game" of streaming and improving training delivery. It has recently been involved in responding to requests for proposals (RFPs) from several of its major clients.
The response by the Academy's new offering highlights the opprotunity to combine:
- The capabilities of the LMS,
- AAA's foundation of quality content,
- Support from skilled trainers and learning facilitators.
The new services are intended to demonstrate how the AAA Academy can operate as an externally sourced in-house training department for major clients.
AAA's implementation of the new LMS is currently underway and will continue for some time due to resource constraints. The implementation requires coordination across various operational departments, and clear communications and collaboration to ensure that stakeholders are provided with effective content and usability.
When the full implementation of the LMS is complete and the AAA Academy launches its offering, the complete scope for its capabilities will be available to help its clients and the transportation industry sector improve its employee development efforts by increasing the impact in the following areas.
• Program Development and Continuous Improvement
The LMS will facilitate the development and deployment of diverse training programs that use interactive training modules aimed at capturing employee interest and improving learning outcomes. The system will track employee progress and gather feedback essential for the ongoing improvement of training programs.
Regular evaluations and updates will be integral to the LMS, enabling AAA to adapt to changing industry standards and employee needs. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures that the training provided remains relevant and impactful.
• Engaging Employees and Gathering Feedback
Recognizing that employee engagement is vital for success, AAA plans to implement regular surveys and assessments to gather feedback on the LMS and its training offerings. This feedback loop will help the organization create a supportive and engaging environment, ultimately boosting employee satisfaction and retention.
• Compliance Management at Its Core
AAA’s LMS will keep track of industry standards and regulations. Regular updates to training modules will ensure that employees are informed about any changes in compliance requirements. Providing employees with the necessary resources and support to meet these standards is crucial for maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
• Data-Driven Performance Tracking
The LMS will track employee performance and use data to identify areas for improvement. This data-driven approach will enable AAA to conduct regular performance reviews, ensuring employees meet expectations while also driving informed decision-making to refine training programs further.
Learning Into the Future
AAA Canada's introduction of a new Learning Management System marks a significant step forward in its commitment to employee training and development. By integrating compliance, health and safety, and effective program development, the organization is setting the stage for a more engaged, knowledgeable, and satisfied workforce. As AAA Canada embarks on this transformative journey, it is clear that the future of employee training is changing in important ways.
AAA Canada is exploring ways to expand the reach and use of the LMS to deploy its training content and capabilities in support of learning and development initiatives. Exploration of the possibilities includes the potential sale of training programs (content and delivery) to key clients such as Boeing and Airbus. For the expansion of this service to succeed and thrive, it is critical to stay current with industry trends; incorporating new technologies will be key to keeping the LMS relevant and effective and creating new opportunities for the AAA Academy services.
