JOB DESCRIPTION

AAA Canada is looking for a Senior Trainer – Civil Aero Engine Maintenance in Calgary to lead and develop jet engine mechanics within our Calgary facility. You will train, mentor, and certify maintenance personnel, ensuring all work meets aviation authority standards while promoting safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional training and guidance to jet engine mechanic trainees throughout their practical training in a workshop environment.
  • Ensure training programs (both theoretical and practical) are properly instructed, documented, and continuously improved according to the approved training plan.
  • Act as a qualified Senior Engine Mechanic, providing on-the-job instruction, supervision, and certification of completed work.
  • Support and evaluate training participants, identifying strengths and areas for improvement; implement development plans and monitor progress.
  • Conduct performance and development reviews, summarizing trainee achievements and performance levels.
  • Supervise practical assignments in both training and production environments within the global Mobile Engine Services network.
  • Monitor and ensure training quality standards, participating in audits and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead team meetings with training participants, applying structured and methodical coaching techniques.

Skills and qualifications

  • Vocational or technical degree in aircraft or mechanical maintenance.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Senior Engine Mechanic with relevant authorizations.
  • LEAP Engine Authorization required (training available if needed).
  • Strong knowledge of jet engine maintenance, borescope inspection, and MS Office tools.
  • Fluent in English (German or French an asset).
  • Must hold a valid Canadian work permit and driver’s license; willingness to travel and work in airport environment
  • In-depth knowledge of civil aircraft engines, borescope inspection, and engine disassembly/assembly processes.
  • Experience with EDP systems and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient in interpreting technical manuals, drawings, and aviation maintenance documentation.
  • Strong understanding of aviation maintenance regulations, quality assurance, and safety compliance.
